What’s Happening At Kendalls

Fall Market

Contributed by

I hadn’t been to a furniture market for 25 years. Thus I had forgotten that flat, comfy shoes (aka tennis shoes) are a must! I am saying this because my feet have finally recovered from wearing my stylish yet uncomfortable wedges and boots.

High Point is filled with high-rise buildings/warehouses/mills over flowing with everything furniture related and you walk – walk- walk everywhere. Our five,12-hour days didn’t even scratch the surface to the number of companies represented.

A highlight for me was a company, Four Hands. I was like a kid in a candy store! Their super-cool mixture of industrial-modern-castle distinctive furniture, lighting and accessories had me drooling. I could just see this long, narrow distressed dining table in a beach house with linen, slip-covered Parson’s chairs and an industrial metal light fixture. I love the character and depth different textures give to a space so this showroom was singin’ to me.

Another get-my-juices-flowing company was Miles Talbott. Besides the fact they treated us like family and are a family-owned-and-operated business themselves, they have teamed up with Dana Gibson for wallpapers, fabrics and stylish furniture pieces – you will go gaga over the colors! Oranges, Kelly greens, bright blues – refreshing and beautiful, rolled up into one. Our Dana Gibson display (wallpaper, draperies, sofa, chair and killer-cool teal leather ottomans) should be complete by February (wish it could be sooner – it takes a while for production of the new stuff). Exciting things to look forward to!!
